OnePlus Nord 5

The OnePlus Nord 5 may not be the newest handset from OnePlus, but it still provides great value. This “no-frills” handset forgoes some features – like headphone jack and IP rating – to bring down its price point.

Oxygen OS remains on this phone and provides an enjoyable user experience with plenty of features and applications from Google; although some non-Google bloatware is present as well as apps which may need uninstalling from time to time.

 Display

OnePlus Nord has earned early praise as an exceptional lower-cost Android phone, but some early users on Reddit and its official forums have noted some display issues when brightness drops below 25 percent brightness levels. Some reported seeing green tinted areas on certain parts of their displays when brightness dropped below this threshold.

OnePlus has acknowledged and promised a software update to address the OLED display display issue, saying it doesn’t compromise durability or quality of their screen. They haven’t announced when the solution may arrive but it is expected to arrive before August 4.

OnePlus Nord’s 6.44-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels, 408ppi) AMOLED display offers stunning clarity thanks to its 90Hz refresh rate. With minimal bezels and a pill-shaped punch hole in the top left for its two front cameras, its screen offers outstanding color saturation, deep blacks and viewing angles that offer HDR10+ compatibility – truly an enjoyable user experience.

OnePlus Nord 5 Camera

OnePlus has built its reputation on offering flagship-level specifications at mid-range prices, and the Nord 5 continues this legacy with its quad camera setup in pill form. Its main 48MP snapper – which bins images down to 12MP by default – has made appearances on numerous recent OnePlus devices and it performs reliably here as expected.

Under bright conditions, photos taken with the Nord are detailed with vibrant colors and an excellent dynamic range. In lower light situations however, images tend to be inconsistent but still manage to produce acceptable levels of noise and blurriness despite lacking a true telephoto camera; its absence significantly hinders its performance in this department.

The front-facing camera of the Nord is capable of capturing incredible detail when taking selfies, delivering exceptional quality images. Furthermore, its beauty filters include adjustable intensity filters for enhanced shots. You can even utilize its group selfie mode if there are three people present and enough lighting conditions exist to do so.

OnePlus offers an ultra-wide sensor, perfect for landscape photographers. However, its width does not differ much from that of the main rear camera – you can even capture 4K video simultaneously with both sensors.

OnePlus Nord ce 5 Battery

The Nord 5 features a powerful 5,000mAh battery which should easily last a full day of heavy usage, with its impressive efficiency enabling you to avoid frequent charging sessions. This allows the device to perform most everyday tasks, provide good gaming capabilities and stay connected via social media with family, friends and colleagues.

Though its hardware may be modest, the Nord 5 performs exceptionally well in our Geekbench tests. It scored 2,547 in single-core and 5,078 in multi-core benchmarking tests – besting most competitors such as Moto G Power (2,022) and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (1,545 and 4,115 respectively).

This makes the OnePlus Nord an excellent option for smartphone buyers on a tight budget who don’t wish to spend over $300. While not a flagship killer, its good battery life, 90Hz AMOLED display, and uncluttered software setup should satisfy many consumers on a tight budget.

OnePlus Nord also boasts its fast 50W SuperVooc charging. Our timed tests revealed it could go from empty to 75% charge in just 55 minutes – far faster than rival phones such as Oppo A94 5G (5:15) or Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro (4:35). Our Day of Use ViserMark score measures how long a phone can be used without needing recharge, factoring in factors like battery capacity, energy usage, charging time and autonomy.

OnePlus Nord 5 Performance

the Nord is an impressive mid-range handset, yet still manages to feel responsive under your finger and easily handle apps and intensive games for its price point. Even its Snapdragon 750G processor, which falls further down Qualcomm’s lineup than what was used in last year’s OnePlus 8 models, still manages to provide an all-round excellent experience.

The Nord’s 6.44-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels, 408ppi) display is stunning to look at, boasting minimal bezels and only a minor chin. Furthermore, this fluid AMOLED panel comes equipped with a 90Hz refresh rate to make scrolling and browsing smoother than many older smartphones while helping smooth out graphics and animation in games.

Video recording with the Nord is impressive as well; it supports 4K footage at 30fps and high-resolution 240fps slo-mo. Furthermore, two microphones allow binaural audio recording which offers stereo separation for optimal results.

The Nord is powered by Android 10/Oxygen OS 10.5 and contains several non-Google ‘bloatware’ apps; however, these can easily be removed. One drawback may be its lower IP rating than the OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro; however, this should only put off some buyers as a more affordable flagship-style device; all that remains to be answered is whether its performance justifies its premium price tag?
